Round 2 >>> Awesome , terrible , surprising .
Full of fun and disappointment this one was . Despite a slightly smaller turn out than round 1 , immense craic was had . Door-to-door battles , carnage and damage made up a large part of the day . Many drivers suffered from unreliability issues , snapping drive shafts , shredding diffs and falling victim to electrical gremlins . A typical days drifting really .

Eddie Hannon’s gorgeous replica of Alan Sinnot’s Hankook/WKD SR86 .
The layout for round 2 was similar to round 1 , bar running it in the opposite direction . Many drivers struggled initially , perhaps the increased speed of this reverse layout being the cause , however come qualifying time most of the field had their lines well dialled .

The Top 8 battles is where things got really exciting , as usual . Some seriously tight battles went down , with 2 in particular needing a mention : ” Rob Long vs. Daryl Treacy ” – This Top4 battle was tight !! ” The best battle of the series so far ” as quoted by Head Judge Dan Cahill of DriftBloggers . Both drivers being team mates of Team Dori*Garage , were very familiar with each others driving styles and the ability of each others cars . A close battle was inevitable of course !
The second battle needing a mention was : ” Daryl Treacy vs. Eddie Hannon ” – With a battle for a spot on the podium and 3rd place at hand , there was a lot at stake to say the least . The intensity was fuelled further by the fact that this was also a battle of ‘Team Dori*Garage’ vs. ‘Team WKD RC Drift’ , so much so that there were 3 O.M.T’s ! In the end it was Daryl Treacy who progressed to 3rd spot .

Probably the biggest surprise of the day , and a pleasant one at that , was new-comer Piotr Lukaszek aka ”YOMEN” taking 1st place at his very first competitive event and first time out on the D*G Drift Track @ WKD Imports . Piotr and Rob fought hard , both putting in clean runs , however it was Rob who slipped up on the final straight , putting down too much power which resulted in a spin .

1st Place – Piotr Lukaszek

2nd Place – Rob Long of Team DORI*GARAGE

3rd Place – Daryl Treacy of Team DORI*GARAGE
And so , that’s Round 2 of the 2010 D*G RC Drift Series done and over with . And once again we’re all dying to get back out there . Round 3 promises to be pretty awesome with all drivers now getting the hang of the track and feeling much more familiar with its parameters .
Video coverage courtesy of D*G TV will follow shortly .
